Photographers are some of the most talented people in the world

The first thing I noticed when checking out “The top 10 sports photos” gallery on the Washington Post website was that all 10 of the pictures were candid shots.  Although the subjects are smiling in some of the pictures, it doesn’t seem to me that they were prepared for the camera to shoot them at that moment.  Perhaps the camera happened to catch the subjects at the right moment, when a smile just so happened to be on their face.

The color in all of these pictures is sharp and loud.  All the colors seem to be in their true form, which to me makes the pictures come alive.  All of the pictures use the thirds technique well, not having everything centered exactly; making sure each third of the picture has as much importance as another third of the picture.

Viewing these pictures makes me appreciate the great ability of these photographers.  To be able to capture such awesome photos during the split second opportunity that they have is fantastic.  I wonder how many times I’d have to try and take the photo to come even half as close to perfection as they came.

I noticed the different angles that these photos were taken.  Some straight ahead, some from the side, some look like they used a long lens to hit their target.  There are so many different techniques that photographers use to capture the image, and once again, it makes me appreciate the ability of these people even more.
